Improving the Waiting Room Experience

Stakeholders: Patients, doctors, nurses, medical assistants, and family members of all of the above

This project is currently in progress as part of a course called Design Thinking for Healthcare. Throughout this course, students learn about design thinking principles and apply them to improving the patient's experience in a waiting room.

Process:

  1. Observe and interview stakeholders in waiting rooms in the UI Health System. (Completed.)
  2. Use design thinking frameworks to identity sticking points and relationships between processes and stakeholders. (Completed.)
  3. Develop ideas for interventions to address issues in the waiting room. (In progress.)
  4. Refine ideas further.

Deliverable: An idea or system of ideas for potential integration in the UI Health System.
